What Are You Listening To?

Listening To

Ever wonder what an architect is listening to while they are designing?  It can be a variety of different music types, believe me!  But music and Architecture are like peas and carrots.  They go together so well!  There is nothing better than becoming immersed by music, letting it take you places creatively.

“Music is liquid Architecture.  Architecture is frozen Music.”

– Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

Often times, while in the office, I get the question thrown my way asking,” What are you listening to?”  And it changes day-to-day.  Some days it’s hard rock or heavy metal, some days classical or movies scores, and even somedays (usually Fridays when I’m amped for the weekend) it’s 2010’s Pop (don’t judge me!)

So here you go!  Here’s a quick list of what the songs and playlists that I am listening to right now:

Amazon Music Playlist: Angry Rock

If you don’t already have access to Amazon Music through Amazon Prime, I highly recommend it!  The music selection is endless and there is always new recommendations made for you in the Search bar.  Amazon also has an Unlimited Music option that includes 50 million songs!  Plus, they have a free 30 days trail!  So try it out!

A perfect example is this playlist.  One day at work, I was having one of “those” days.  Nothing was going right, clients were mad, contractors were blowing up my phone and email, and I had numerous tasks piling up on my desk.

What helped me get through the day without completely blowing a gasket?  Typing in “Angry Music” in my Amazon Music app and finding this gem.  I popped my headphones in and plowed through the work, emails, and other various tasks.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows Soundtrack: Part 2

Score are amazing when you are trying to focus but also want to completely zone out in your design world.  I tend to have the problem of wanting to dance or sing to artist’s songs that I know really well.  This can obviously turn into Stevie not getting any work done!  Thus, soundtrack scores were introduced to me around college!

This Harry Potter soundtrack is a go-to for when it’s dreary outside and I need to focus on my design work, code reviews, or even submittals!  Not busting any moves with this guy!

Amazon Music Playlist: Christmas Classics

Surprise, surprise, I’m a Christmas person!  It never fails, once November starts to slowly creep in, so does the Christmas songs for me! (Disclaimer:  I still try and wait until AFTER Thanksgiving to put up my tree.  But Christmas music always gets an early start for me!)

This Amazon Music playlist has all your favorites to get you in that Christmas spirit!  All you need is some egg nog and a nice toasty fire and you are set!

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone Soundtrack

Again, Potterhead over here!  And the first Harry Potter soundtrack is a classic!  It always have a Christmas feel to it which I love around this time of year.

Recent iTunes Purchases:

A Star is Born Soundtrack

I’m huge fan of The Gaga!  Behind the makeup and outrageous outfits, she has amazing talents.  My husband and I went and saw the movie in theater’s (something we rarely do) and we both loved it!  The move is great and the soundtrack is even better.

Bradley Cooper also did a great job in his debut singing.  The blue-sey rock style he delivers is right up my alley and perfectly compliments Gaga’s voice on duets.

First I bought just “Shallow” since I noticed it at the top of the iTunes charts and liked it.  It wasn’t long before I went ahead and just purchased the entire album.  A great soundtrack that I fully recommend!  Plus, is has 34 songs to get lost in!

Below is a quick list of iTunes induvial songs that are constantly on repeat!

“No Talk” Lowell

“Zombie” Bad Wolves

“California Dreamin'” Sia

If you aren’t already an Amazon Prime Member, believe me it’s worth the price!  Not only can you get awesome music and playlist like these, but you are eligible for other exclusive offers, and of course FREE 2-Day Shipping!
